CAPCOM Program

This six-month virtual program supports mid-career racialized Canadian producers seeking to develop international co-production opportunities for their scripted television or streaming projects. Four (4) participants will be selected to gain hands-on experience and expand their professional reach into the Asia-Pacific market.

Applications are open from May 6 through June 1, with the program beginning in late June 2026.

Who Should Apply

This program is geared toward mid-career producers who:

  • Have majority ownership of a strong, original serialized scripted project (TV or streaming) in development suitable for Asian and global markets
  • Are committed to international collaboration, particularly in Asia-Pacific markets
  • Are ready to engage deeply in a rigorous, cohort-based learning environment
  • Available for a full-time 8 week internship in a production company (there will be some flexibility in placement schedule, $5,000 stipend will be provided by RESO)
  • Want to develop and/or strengthen lead Producer/Showrunner knowledge and skills

Note – Applicants who traveled to an Asian market as a RESO delegate will unlikely be selected for this program.

About the Program

The CAPCOM program is structured around three integrated learning streams that combine training, hands-on experience, and project development.

At the core of CAPCOM are Individualized Development Plans, created through sessions with RESO Consultants, host companies, and mentors. These plans set individualized goals, milestones, and a clear pathway for each participant’s project and career advancement.

Program Benefits

  • Specialized Training: In-depth workshops and seminars focusing on co-production agreements, writing and IP development, and pitching skills for scripted TV collaborations in Asia.
  • Targeted Mentorship: Each participant will be matched with a CAPCA (Canada-Asia Pacific Co-Production Accelerator) participant with experience in taking Canadian projects to the Asia Pacific region.
  • Market Access: Opportunities to pitch scripted TV projects to leading Asian studios, broadcasters, and digital platforms at EXNW 2026.
  • Networking Opportunities: Build meaningful connections with industry leaders from Canada and Asia through curated events.
  • Hybrid Program: Participate in both virtual sessions and in-person events (Singapore or Busan), EXNW 2026 (Vancouver).
  • Program Stipend and Travel Support: Each project team will receive a $3,500 stipend, travel coverage for a trip to an Asian market, and a travel subsidy to attend EXNW 2026 in Vancouver.
  • Industry Experience: Participants will have the opportunity to work in a production company for 8 weeks to apply knowledge gained from masterclasses and mentorship.
