There is no DEI without dialogue. We need to include difference to get to a place of authentic communication with each other, to be able to be passionately surprised by another human being different from oneself. Yet this is easier said than done. As such, this approach to anti-oppression training aims to set up a safe and non-judgemental space that supports dialogue; a space that supports curiosity in oneself and others and promotes connection while identifying and challenging systems, biases and fears that create division.
There is collective healing, learning and growth that happens when people come together with openness and commitment to connect. Dialogue is an integral aspect of creating a powerful and beautiful temporal space for anti-oppression training. This training supports participants to continuously “show up”, self-reflect, actively listen to different voices, while creating safety for marginalized identified voices and supporting folks to “do the work” of hanging in with one another to authentically embody values of DEI. This is an ongoing learning journey.
This workshop will be led by Luisa Amaral.
