ABOUT DONALD MOWAT, C.M
Donald James Mowat was born and raised in Montreal to British parents. In a career spanning more than three decades, his work on ratings-busters like ‘Dune’, ‘Dune: part two’, ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘Skyfall’ have cemented his reputation as being one of the world’s top makeup designers and in recognition, he’s earned an Academy Award Nomination, three BAFTA nominations, a Primetime Emmy Award, three Saturn Awards, and a record ten Make-up Artists and Hairstylists Guild Awards nominations. In 2012 Donald was awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2018 for his work with BAFTA Los Angeles youth outreach.
ABOUT ZABRINA MATIRU
Zabrina celebrates over twenty years experience as a Makeup Artist working in Film, Television and Print. Through education and mentorship she remains in pursuit of inclusivity and diversity within the film industry and beyond. Born and raised in Kenya, Zabrina takes pride in her multi cultural upbringing. Her artistic perspective draws from a global aesthetic and her personal objective is to remain consciously active in helping shape the evolution of our industry towards a more equitable standard of diversity. Some of Zabrina’s career highlights include, Makeup Designer for movies and television shows such as Swan Song, Surface, Lost in Space (Seasons 1 & 2), Supernatural (Seasons 8 through 11) and The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz.
ABOUT FRANCOIS DAGENAIS CSC
François Dagenais csc began traveling the world as a teenager with a camera, developing a lifelong fascination with the emotional power of images that led him into cinematography. Since his first feature in 1997, he has collaborated closely with directors to shape the visual language of films, documentaries, and series, earning praise from outlets like The New York Times and Art Forum and screenings at festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, TIFF, and Camerimage. His recent television work includes Smoke (Apple TV+), Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Disney+), The Hot Zone (Nat Geo), and Project Blue Book (HISTORY), along with The Mysterious Benedict Society (Disney+) and Yellowjackets (Showtime), with multiple award nominations from the ASC and Canadian Screen Awards. His broader credits span The Night Agent, Home Before Dark, The Magicians, and films such as The Silent Love, The Samaritan, and Downsizing. He holds degrees from Concordia University and the American Film Institute and is represented by UTA.
