Are you interested in working on Factual and Documentary film projects? Omnifilm Entertainment is looking for candidates to work as Field Assistants and Story Assistants for their upcoming productions.

Join Creative Pathways and Creative BC’s Prem Gill to connect with David Gullason, Executive and Series Producer, Omnifilm Entertainment to learn about these two exciting entry level positions.  If you are interested in camera, editing, writing and producing, these roles are a great starting point!

Entry level positions that are most in demand in the field are Field Assistants and in post-production, Story Assistants:

  • Field Assistants are predominantly technical positions with duties ranging from camera assistant (i.e. setting up cameras such as GoPros, managing cards, batteries, assisting the DP), DIT/media management, sound, and possible camera operator duties
  • Story Assistants view the field tape and sort accordingly to storylines and b-roll.  They string out storylines on AVID and consult with the story department regarding potential stories and episodes

David Gullason is a showrunner, producer, and executive producer with over 20 years experience in television. His recent projects with Omnifilm include the seventh season of JADE FEVER (Discovery Canada), the third season of WILD BEAR RESCUE (Animal Planet Canada) and DINOSAUR COLD CASE for CBC’s The Nature of Things.. Previously, he created and ran six seasons of ICE PILOTS NWT (History), as well as producing two seasons of PYROS (Discovery Canada), and one season of STUNTDAWGS (Movie Network). Other projects include STORM WARNING (Discovery US), CINEMA SECRETS (AMC), ICEBOUND  (History/S4C),  BLIND HOPE  (Discovery  Health  US),  SPACE MEDICINE  (Discovery  Health  US),  and  WILD AT HEART  (Knowledge).

 

 

Meet 10 is a Creative Pathways equity opportunity serving new entrants to the film industry who are from underrepresented, systemically excluded groups. The program coordinates small online meetings between career-seekers and film industry hirers in order to help new entrants form relationships and build networks.
