March 8 – March 13, 2022
This year’s festival showcases a local, Canadian and international lineup of short and feature-length films including narratives, documentaries and animation—celebrating the complexity and diversity of ways girls, women and gender diverse people choose to challenge, overcome, and inspire—themselves, each other, their communities, and our world today.
Now in it’s 17th year, VIWFF continues to provide a platform for challenging gender inequity and the lack of diversity in the screen-based media industry.
VIWFF 2022 is proud to showcase a majority of women and gender diverse filmmakers and creatives, including the stories and voices of Canadian and international Black, Indigenous and People of Colour, People with Disabilities and the LGBTQ2+ community, in an international, multi-genre selection of films. VIWFF 2022 also hosts a variety of events and panels seeking to engage with aspiring filmmakers.
VIWFF is produced annually by Women in Film and Television Vancouver (WIFTV), a member-driven, not-for-profit society founded in 1989 which addresses systemic barriers to gender based equity in screen-based media.
