Versatile Media is a global company that has created an end-to-end virtual production workflow. Our new North American headquarters are based in Vancouver, Canada where we run performance capture and visualization stages that run on real-time technology. Our upcoming LED stage is scheduled to open later this year.

Our Vancouver location is focused on Virtual Production, combining real-time rendering technology, traditional film workflows and proprietary research and development, as well as creating original animation and live action I.P for Sci-Fi and fantasy genres.

The role…

The function of the HR Manager at Versatile Media is to provide sound and expert advice on HR practices and BC Employment Standards and legislation. You will manage all HR responsibilities including but not limited to employee relations, onboarding, conflict resolution and general HR administrative tasks.

How you will spend your time…

  • Develop and manage new HR and operational policies and procedures when required;
  • Maintain constant communication with production management, department managers, supervisors, and HR to understand immediate and future studio requirements and priorities;
  • Maintain and manage the HRIS system – BambooHR;
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of onboarding for new employees;
  • Coordinate internal and external Training and Development;
  • Develop & implement retention and engagement strategies;
  • Proactively resolve Human Resources issues and demonstrate innovative thinking by researching, analyzing and preparing recommendations;
  • Deal with disciplinary and grievance procedures and practices;
  • Facilitate, prepare and deliver performance reviews;
  • Stay up-to-date with all legislative, regulatory development with regards to Canadian laws;
  • Manage all aspects of paperwork for temporary foreign workers in conjunction with Service Canada;
  • Administer employee benefits such as extended health insurance;
  • Work alongside Finance Controller to process payroll.

Practical details about the job…

  • Hybrid schedule: ability to work both in-office and at home with the first 90 days being primarily onsite.
  • Working hours: flexible working hours but should be available during the studio’s working hours of 9:00am to 6:00pm.

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist/Management specific role;
  • Previous experience in Live-action filming, Visual Effects, Animation or Games companies;
  • Expert knowledge of BC Employment Standards and HR best practices;
  • Knowledge of compensation, benefits and other related experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of Google documents platform;
  • Past experience with HRIS systems like BambooHR or similar;
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal;
  • Past experience within the high-tech or creative sector a bonus;
  • Experience and knowledge of Service Canada practices as it relates to Temporary Foreign Worker requirements;
  • Experience with Recruiting software such as JazzHR a bonus.
