The role:


  • Renders financing decisions (made within Telefilm’s financial and reporting guidelines) for English-language feature films from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and Northwest Territories the region that will:
    • Represent a distinctly regional point of view;
    • Encourage and build diversity of talent;
    • Achieve balanced and representative portfolio for the low budget stream.
  • Works with National Director and Regional Directors in Ontario, Atlantic and Quebec to collaborate in developing effective strategies, business intelligence and reporting
  • Manages the regional budget and the commitment of funds in a timely manner and upholds the client charter.
  • Represent the organization at industry events in the Western provinces and Territories.
  • Assumes the role of point person for Western client-applicants on all project-specific matters.
  • Builds and strengthens relations with active partners and contributors.




  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or any other related discipline or combination of equivalent and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role, or in a role related to film & television
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the feature film industry;
  • Ability to evaluate the creative and audience potential of projects at the script stage through development production and distribution/marketing;
  • Ability to think and communicate strategically
  • Knowledge of trends, priorities, issues, developments, and distribution methods and practices, and financial aspects relating to the commercial life of feature films both at the national and international level;
  • Ability to exert leadership of influence and drive results with cross-functional teams;
  • Skilled in client and relationship management;
  • Proven negotiation, communication, organizational and planning skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
