The Pan-Asian Storyteller Edition is a reflection of the rich diversity of narratives from Pan-Asian creatives in Canada. TELUS STORYHIVE’s aim is to be inclusive of the breadth and depth of experiences of new and emerging filmmakers in B.C. and Alberta who are of Asian descent, across all regions of continental Asia.
We’re looking for original documentary or scripted film or series pilot projects that are set in and reflect your local community.
For scripted content, examples of eligible genres include (but are not limited to): Drama, Comedy, Action, Romance, Suspense, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Western, Musical.
Your project can be either a standalone film or a pilot episode for a series.
No filmmaking experience required.
To be eligible for this edition, you must meet the following criteria:

Be over the age of majority in BC and Alberta (19+ in BC or 18+ AB)

Be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada

Self-identify as being of Asian or part-Asian heritage which includes individuals with ancestral origins in East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and Western Asia.

Live in one of our eligible communities in British Columbia or Alberta

Be a first time or emerging content creator and have not had access to the Canadian broadcasting system in the last 5 years

Not be participating in another STORYHIVE program that overlaps with this program

Not be an individual associated with TELUS
