Through a combination of theoretical frameworks, practical case studies, and interactive workshops, participants will delve into key areas such as company valuation, entrepreneurial mindset, strategic alliances, financial management, regulatory compliance, international market trends, revenue generation opportunities, legal affairs, and business leverage.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a holistic understanding of how to build and scale a production company beyond individual projects.
  • Apply advanced tools and strategies to leverage your company’s success.
  • Discover the essential building blocks of a stable and sustainable company.
  • Identify and address potential weaknesses within your company.

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Enhance their company’s growth and profitability.
  • Make informed decisions regarding company valuation, financing, and strategic alliances.
  • Navigate the complex legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Develop and implement effective international market strategies.
  • Explore and capitalize on emerging revenue generation opportunities.

Eligibility:

For experienced producers/owners who have at minimum:

  • An incorporated company with a minimum of 2 years’ tax returns
  • Production credit on at least 2 series or 4 seasons of web series on which have received third party funding

The expectation is that the Producer/Owner shall attend all session. However, eligible producers/owners may delegate a specialist staff person to participate in appropriate modules as approved in advance on a case by case basis.

 

Course Schedule

Note: The first sessions on Friday, November 15, from 9 am to 5 pm, will be held in-person at MaRS Discovery District, Toronto. All following modules will be held virtually online, on Thursdays, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
