(Volunteer Position)

The Sustainable Act is looking for two Editors to join our volunteer powered team and help guide our platform as we continue to amplify diverse voices in the climate action space.

About the Role

As an Editor, you’ll play a key role in managing our team of volunteer columnists and overseeing the creation of impactful content for our blog. From organizing pitch meetings to providing detailed feedback on submissions, you’ll ensure that every article we publish reflects our mission to inspire meaningful conversations on sustainability and social justice. You’ll also manage our editorial calendar, making sure that we’re consistently publishing engaging, thought-provoking content that drives real change.

This is a great opportunity for experienced editors and writers who are passionate about sustainability and want to help elevate underrepresented voices—particularly BIPOC-led, youth-led, and queer-led initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage and support our team of columnists, helping them pitch, develop, and refine their stories

  • Organize pitch meetings and guide content strategy

  • Edit article submissions, providing feedback to ensure polished, high-quality pieces

  • Oversee the editorial calendar to ensure a consistent flow of content

  • Collaborate with columnists to source images and ensure proper credits

  • Recruit new columnists to expand and diversify our team of contributors

Why You Should Apply

  • You’ll be joining a passionate community that is dedicated to making a difference in the world of sustainability.

  • You’ll have the opportunity to take on a leadership role, managing a team of writers and shaping the content strategy for a growing platform.

  • This is a flexible, remote volunteer position that allows you to work on your own schedule, approximately 4-6 hours a week.

  • You’ll help amplify voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream sustainability conversations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in writing, editing, or managing content

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • A passion for sustainability, climate action, and social justice

  • The ability to provide constructive feedback and help writers grow

  • A portfolio of your previous writing or editing work
