CBC is open to a variety of production partners — in-house teams, independent producers and production companies, and co-productions with other media.

Accepting pitches for the following umbrella feeds:

  • Uncover – The best in true crime from Escaping NXIVM to Sea of Lies
  • Personally – Gripping memoirs. Run, Hide, RepeatWelcome to Paradise
  • The Con – Surprising stories full of twists of being conned in love, life or online. Love, Janessa; Kaitlyn’s Baby
  • Split Screen – Inside the unsettling and captivating world of entertainment and pop culture.
  • Understood – Know more, now. Four episode seasons on the seismic shifts changing our world in politics, society, technology and culture.

Looking for:

  • Ambitious and exciting series that stand out and garner critical acclaim
  • Original stories where you ideally have unique access
  • Universal entry points for a wide range of Canadian and global audiences
  • Skilled producers who bring creativity and experience making premium quality content
  • Our slate reflects our diverse and contemporary society

Some things to avoid: 

  • Pitches that don’t sustain multiple episodes and better suited to one-off documentaries.
  • Pitches that rely on copyrighted music (due to rights issues)
  • Pitches that are topics or ideas versus compelling stories with characters
  • Currently, we are not commissioning talk, interview or chat formats
