Inclusive Leadership in Film + Television

Creative Pathways™, in partnership with Elevate Inclusion Strategies, provides comprehensive professional development programs at no cost to motion picture industry personnel.

Program Structure

This collaborative, impactful two-day series is designed specifically for leaders and supervisors committed to creating respectful and inclusive workplace cultures. The highly participatory format features breakout sessions and peer-to-peer learning opportunities, enabling participants to develop intercultural communication and leadership skills through direct engagement with industry colleagues. Those who will benefit most are professionals dedicated to building more inclusive productions and crews while advancing their strategic leadership capabilities.

Eligibility

  • Must be B.C.-based
  • Must already be working in a leadership capacity or actively upgrading into a supervisory or management role
  • Participants are eligible to access (1) one course from the Professional Development Program towards their professional career: Inclusive Leadership in Film + TV or Inclusive Workplaces for Film + Television.  Current and past participants cannot register for and attend both courses; please carefully choose the stream that best suits your current status in motion picture
Structure

Day 1: Foundation and Workplace Culture Participants establish essential knowledge through human rights and Occupational Health and Safety perspectives, examining how discrimination and harassment impact team dynamics, creativity, and production efficiency. Core modules address cultural awareness strategies, recognition and mitigation of unconscious bias, psychosocial health maintenance, and effective approaches to resolving workplace concerns through both informal and formal channels. This foundation ensures all participants understand their role in fostering collaborative, respectful production environments.

Day 2: Leadership Implementation and Action Building on foundational knowledge, participants develop practical skills for inclusive leadership within production teams. Advanced modules explore restorative approaches to workplace conflict resolution, evidence-based strategies for inclusive crew hiring, the development of authentic allyship practices, and effective coaching and mentoring techniques. Participants leave equipped with immediately applicable tools to drive cultural transformation within their organizations and productions.

  • Time: 9:30 am – 4 pm PT
  • Breaks: 1-hour lunch and 15-minute breaks in the morning and afternoon.
Who Should take this Course?
Experienced B.C.-based supervisors and leaders managing teams, including individuals in the process of upgrading into a leadership role.

e.g. Producers, Directors, Heads of Department, Keys, Film Commissioners, Film Festival Directors, etc.

Individuals who meet this criteria and are working in above-the-line, below-the-line, post, visual effects, animation, and film adjacent careers are welcome to attend.

Cancellation Policy
This training grant is valid for up to two months from the date of your original registration. Seats are limited.

If you’re no longer able to attend, please notify the Creative Pathways™ team at least five (5) days prior to the course start date. This allows facilitators and administrators time to offer the spot to waitlisted participants.

Registrants must reschedule their session within three months of their original registration date to hold their spot.

About Natasha Tony

Natasha Tony, CEO of Vancouver-based Elevate Inclusion Strategies, is a sought-after labour relations specialist, consultant, leadership coach, trainer, and speaker. In 2022, Natasha was recognized as a Black leader in Vancouver by the Vancouver Economic Commission. Natasha is committed to applying an intersectional, human rights, and reconciliation lens to all that she does. Her deep experience in mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution supports leaders in helping them navigate the stages toward sustainable inclusion. Natasha works with corporations, businesses, crown corporations, all levels of government, labour unions, and social justice organizations. Her work requires a deep understanding of organizational structure, strategic initiatives, inclusive leadership, and human resources.

Prior to establishing Elevate Inclusion Strategies, Natasha worked for 15 years as an Extras Casting Director in the British Columbia film industry. Following that, she worked as a Labour Relations Specialist, also in the film industry. During this time, Natasha gained a reputation for working collaboratively with unions and Hollywood studios on complex workplace issues. Natasha also championed and developed the renowned Inclusive Leadership and Inclusive Workplace Training Program for the film industry, delivered across Canada and the U.S.
