Bridging the gap between creative vision and industrial execution, FILMBA provides Indigenous producers with a comprehensive toolkit for professional success. Our curriculum deconstructs the business of film from high-level financing and labor relations to global distribution, all while equipping participants to drive meaningful change and establish a lasting legacy within the Canadian media landscape.
This year’s cohort will be focused on first features, ideally for producers looking to create a low-budget project or submit to Telefilm’s Talent to Watch program.
The program offers 20 sponsored seats and will be delivered entirely online. It consists of eleven two-day workshops that take place over two terms.
There will also be mentorship sessions between workshops to provide participants with one-on-one opportunities to delve deeper into their project development with industry professionals.
Open to emerging and experienced Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) producers ready to produce their first feature-length project. Producers must have industry training, experience producing short-form content with a budget of at least $20,000, and have a project that you would like to take through development in the program.
