The Pacific Screenwriting Program (PSP) works to build a vibrant screenwriting community in British Columbia. Based in Vancouver, the not-for-profit organization provides training and support to TV writers at all levels, with the aim of generating a deep and sustainable pool of local talent for BC-based scripted productions, with an emphasis on diversity and gender parity. The PSP offers multiple short and longer term programs in pursuit of these goals.

The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager undertakes the planning and hands-on delivery of the PSP’s training and capacity-building programs in collaboration with the Executive Director. This is a position suited to a mid- or senior-career professional with established experience in the Canadian television industry, who is committed to fostering domestic talent within the screen-based sector.

Applicants should have project or program management experience, exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving and leadership skills, and a strong sense of accountability. The Program Manager and Executive Director work as a close team — the successful candidate thrives in an environment of regular discussion and collaborative planning and problem-solving.

Although the Program Manager does not generally provide guidance on writing and craft to program participants as part of their role, candidates with an ability to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of scripts and who have a sophisticated understanding of the writing side of the television sector can add significant value and insight to the role.

Work Hours and Environment
The working hours will be during West Coast office hours on a flexible schedule agreed with the Executive Director. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary for program delivery.

The PSP is a lean organization — staff have real ownership and direct impact, moving comfortably between strategic program work and hands-on tasks like logistics, scheduling, and administration. As the PSP grows, there is potential for this role to develop in scope and hours, shaping what industry-responsive expansion looks like.

*A Metro Vancouver-based Program Manager working in a hybrid environment is preferred, but for an exceptional candidate, a fully remote structure may be considered.

Responsibilities include:

  • annual planning, delivery (including hands-on logistics) and evaluation of multiple training and capacity-building programs
  • designing and managing program selection processes
  • supporting applicants, participants, and program leaders/mentors (senior writers) throughout their engagement
  • planning and hosting industry training workshops and meet-and-greets
  • collaborating with the Executive Director to identify industry needs for future program opportunities, and their development and design
  • maintaining strong connections within the industry, engaging with senior writers, broadcasters, and industry stakeholders to support PSP relationships and advocate for program alumni

Experience & qualifications:

  • significant experience planning, leading and delivering professional-level programs for artists, ideally in the Canadian television industry
  • a strong understanding of the Canadian independent production landscape
  • a substantive knowledge of episodic screenwriting and an ability to evaluate scripts with confidence; experience as a development executive or in a comparable industry role is a strong asset
  • demonstrated track record in project management, adapting to sector changes and needs
  • excellent planning, time management and organizational skills, and an ability to work efficiently in a busy, multi-tasking environment
  • exceptional oral and written communication skills, including care, clarity and tact
  • an adaptable mindset and a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • an ability to work with a high degree of initiative and good judgement, while thriving in a close, collaborative working relationship
  • a commitment to nurturing Canadian talent, to the values and vision of the PSP, and to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • strong computer skills, including Google Suite and Zoom
  • legally able to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or existing open work permit).

Please note: this role is not a good fit for someone concurrently pursuing their own screenwriting career. Further, to avoid any perception of a conflict of interest, PSP policy is that staff may not take part as participants in any PSP programs during the time they work for the PSP or for a year following their departure.

To Apply:

The PSP strives to be an equitable and inclusive workplace. We encourage applications from members of communities that have been marginalized based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, racialization, disability, political belief, religion, marital or family status, age, or identity as an Indigenous person. We welcome self-identification in your application. To request accommodations or access needs in this process please email info[at]pacificscreenwriting.com

Applications are accepted via the PSP’s online portal using the button below until 5pm PT on Monday May 18, 2026. Please do not email your application.

In the portal, you will be asked to input your name and contact information, confirm that you’re already legally permitted to work in Canada, and then to upload your cover letter and resume in a single PDF document. Please ensure that the filename for the PDF includes your first and last name.
