DGC BC Below the Line Special Program

DGC BC is excited to announce it has obtained approval from the British Columbia Human Rights Commission to operate a special program to promote the hiring of its diverse Below the Line Members and Permittee Logbook Holders.

Both the AMPTP and CMPA submitted letters in support of the Special Program to the Tribunal.  We are very grateful to have them as partners in the promotion of diversity in the film and television industry in British Columbia.

 

Background

By way of background, in 2019, the DGC BC received approval to implement a special program for diverse Director Members (the “Director Special Program”). The Director Special Program permitted the DGC BC to operate a searchable database that includes voluntarily provided diversity information about individual Directors. The 2022 Special Program alows DGC BC to colect and disclose to employers voluntarily provided diversity information about al Members and Permittee Logbook Holders (“Permittees”).

 

Goal

The goal of the 2022 Special Program is to increase diversity throughout the DGC BC membership and the film industry generally by increasing the number of diverse Members and Permittees being hired while ensuring that Members’ and Permittees’ rights are protected in accordance with the Human Rights Code (“HRC”) and the Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”).
