WFF: Producers Lab

Valued at $15,000, the WFF Producers Lab is an intensive, multi-phase project development program designed to accelerate the careers of up to six mid-level, independent Canadian producers. Participants advance their original scripted feature projects while strengthening the creative and business skills needed to build a sustainable career across all media.

Over five months, select producers work closely with leading industry advisors and mentors through a combination of individual, group, and market-focused development sessions, both in person and online. The program provides targeted, project-specific feedback to help position your project for investment in the lead-up to the Whistler Film Festival, December 2-6, 2026.

STRUCTURE + TIMELINE

  • Phase 1 (August 7-10, 2026)
    Producers take part in an intensive four days of creative and business workshop sessions, followed by three months of ongoing customized one-on-one mentorship that facilitates script development and pitch package preparation with assigned advisors. The four-day residency will take place in person at Capilano University-Squamish campus.
  • Phase 2 (September to November 2026) 
    Producers take part in online intensive workshops, focusing on business and market preparation. Phase 2 provides unparalleled access to top-tier industry experts from Canada and around the world, including story editors, directors, producers, distributors, broadcasters, and key decision-makers.
  • Phase 3 (December 2-6, 2026)
    During the Whistler Film Festival, participants have access to scheduled 1:1 Market Meetings, masterclasses and will receive one complimentary, non-transferable Industry Pass to the 2026 Whistler Film Festival + Content Summit.
