Time commitment
The STORYHIVE On Location Program begins in on-boarding and training in September 2026, starts production in earnest on October and ends in July 2027. Crews must be prepared to allocate an appropriate amount of time to planning, production and delivery to meet all deadlines.
Grant payment dates
The first Friday of every month.
Support
The program is largely self-guided, and you will be responsible for much of your own learning. We will provide you with a basic equipment kit and training on how to use this gear for live streaming. There will be monthly mandatory online meetings to provide advice and feedback throughout your production. You will also receive a link to the Content Creator Kit, an online document with all of the key information you need for your STORYHIVE journey. During the post-production phase you will be working with a professional video editor assigned to you by TELUS to edit your content from an hour long live stream to a 30 minute broadcast version to be featured on TELUS Optik TV and YouTube. Your STORYHIVE Program Manager will support you all along the way.
Distribution
Completed projects are distributed on each Crew’s own YouTube pages and platforms including TELUS Optik TV On Demand, Stream+, TELUS websites, STORYHIVE.com and other TELUS branded websites or social media platforms including possibly the STORYHIVE YouTube channel. If you wish to pursue alternate distribution options, please contact your STORYHIVE Program Manager. NOTE: Distribution agreements must not conflict with your obligations to STORYHIVE outlined in your grant agreement.
Copyright
Project Leads retain the copyright to their projects and are encouraged to submit to awards, competitions and participate in in-person or virtual community screenings. The raw livestream of your project must be delivered to and reviewed by STORYHIVE prior to any screenings, submission or distribution.
