The Motion Picture Industry Orientation Program (MPIO) is a mandatory course required to join many of B.C.’s motion picture unions and guilds. It provides essential industry knowledge and practical information that career seekers need to know before working on a film set. Completing the MPIO is an important step in career preparation by strengthening eligibility for future union and guild membership and working on signatory productions.
Eligibility
Individuals applying must meet the following basic eligibility criteria:
- Pursuing a Below-the-Line career in the motion picture industry
- 19+ years of age
- B.C. resident
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have not previously taken the Motion Picture Industry Orientation Program (MPIO)
- Have primary residency, outside of the Lower Mainland of B.C., in one of the following regional locations:
- Vancouver Island South
- Vancouver Island North
- Okanagan
- Thompson-Nicola
- Kootenay
- Cariboo Chilcotin Coast
- Columbia Shuswap
- Northern B.C.
Details
One bursary per eligible applicant covering the Motion Picture Industry Orientation Program (MPIO) for a total value of $155+GST CAD ($162.75 CAD).
There is a maximum of (10) ten MPIO certificates available per region
