Unlike traditional industries, this career path requires a lot of initiative to collect knowledge, skills and networks that gradually connect you with the many freelance roles the industry offers:

Equity Pathways into Film
Creative Pathways offers “open streams” and “equity streams” to increase access for all British Columbians with targeted opportunities for people from systemically excluded groups. Look for Setwork and Meet 10 – these are the two equity streams offered through Creative Pathways in the Opportunities section. Consider adding yourself to one of the many People Directories, crew lists specifically systemically underrepresented groups ranging from animation to live production.
Expand your knowledge of JEDDI (Justice, Equity, Decolonization, Diversity and Inclusion) through the Creative Equity Roadmap, a resource for individuals, organizations and the film industry as a whole to access practical frameworks, shared languages and more surrounding equity in B.C. and across the world.
