Sundance Collab is hosting a free live online Film Club session focused on The Farewell, Lulu Wang’s semi-autobiographical feature film.

Hosted by Kiva Reardon, the session will explore the film from script to screen, including its cinematic style, use of autobiography, and lasting impact. The event will include a lecture, film clips, collaborative discussion with the Zoom audience, and an audience Q&A.

The Farewell premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was later acquired by A24 for worldwide distribution. This session is part of Sundance Collab’s monthly Film Club series, which highlights films from the Sundance Film Festival 101 Watchlist and offers community-driven conversations around independent cinema.

A recording of the session will be posted to Film Club within two business days of the live event. Everyone who registers will receive a link to view the recording when it is available.
