SFFILM RAININ GRANT

Awards are made to 15-20 projects once a year in the fall, for screenwriting, development, or post-production. In addition to a cash grant of up to $25,000, recipients receive access to the FilmHouse (located in SOMA in San Francisco) and benefit from SFFILM’s comprehensive and dynamic artist development programs.

The SFFILM Rainin Grant supports independent narrative feature films that explore social justice issues in a meaningful way. Open to filmmakers in the U.S. and internationally, the program offers grants of up to $25,000 for projects in screenwriting, development, or post-production. Eligible projects must be feature-length fiction films with budgets under $3 million.

 

Eligible Projects

  • Must be a feature-length fiction film
  • Must be in screenwriting, development, or post-production
  • Must explore social justice issues through plot, character, theme, or setting
  • Must have a total project budget of $3 million or under
  • Must not be work-for-hire
  • Short films and documentaries are not eligible
  • Primary applicant must be a screenwriter, director, or producer on the project
