The opportunities above serve very different career stages. Berlinale Talents is for emerging professionals with an established body of work, while the Talent Project Market, Co-Production Market and World Cinema Fund generally require developed projects, professional producers and credible financing or production plans. Berlinale Talents 2027
What is it?
A six-day professional-development programme during the Berlin International Film Festival. Around 200 selected filmmakers take part in talks, workshops, project development, peer exchange and international networking.
Who is it for?
Film and television professionals across more than 15 disciplines who already have a professional track record. Applicants generally need at least one feature film, two short films, or a high-quality television project that has screened at festivals or received significant public distribution.

Talent Project Market
What is it?
A project and financing programme for up to ten feature-length projects. Selected producers receive mentoring and take part in tailored meetings with international co-producers, financiers and industry decision-makers during the Berlinale Co-Production Market.
Who is it for?
Producers with a feature-length project suitable for international co-production. The project should have a near-final script or concept, a director attached, clear rights ownership, and a financing and audience strategy.
Deadline:
Apply through the Berlinale Talents application system by September 2, 2026.
The Dream Makers
What is it?
An international short-film competition connected to Berlinale Talents. The winning project receives production funding of up to €120,000, professional mentoring and support toward production.
Who is it for?
Emerging filmmakers born in or after 1990 who are fluent in English and developing an original, unpublished fiction short film of up to 25 minutes. Applicants must first complete a Berlinale Talents application.

Berlinale Co-Production Market
What is it?
An international project market connecting selected film and series projects with co-producers, financiers, broadcasters, distributors and other potential partners.
Who is it for?
Experienced producers with developed feature-film or series projects seeking international financing and co-production relationships.

World Cinema Fund
What is it?
A Berlinale funding initiative supporting production, post-production and distribution for feature films and creative feature documentaries from eligible regions with limited film-financing infrastructure.
Who is it for?
Filmmakers and production companies working on projects from eligible regions in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia, the Caucasus, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Partnership and contracting requirements vary by funding stream.

European Film Market
What is it?
The Berlinale’s international business and industry market. It provides screenings, meetings, conferences, networking and project-discovery opportunities.
Who is it for?
Producers, distributors, sales agents, broadcasters, financiers, festival representatives, commissioners and other established industry professionals.
Deadline:
This is primarily an accreditation and market-registration opportunity rather than a talent-development application. Registration dates and badge deadlines for the 2027 edition should be confirmed through the official EFM page.
Berlin Film Residencies
What is it?
A central platform presenting several filmmaking residencies, including Berlin Artist-in-Residence, the Nipkow Programm and the Haus am See scholarship. The programmes provide protected development time, mentorship and professional exchange in Berlin or partner cities.
Who is it for?
Professional international filmmakers and, for certain programmes, filmmakers based in Berlin-Brandenburg. Eligibility depends on the applicant’s country, region and the individual residency.
