Production Assistants (PAs) help with maintaining the set during the filming day. This entry level role is where many film workers begin their careers.
The Production Assistant role falls under the jurisdiction of the Directors Guild of Canada, British Columbia District Council. A DGC BC member PA performs similar duties as the PA Helper, with some additional responsibilities and expectation of more experience and knowledge. The DGC BC is a Membership organization and does not do any hiring for productions. Productions, also known as Employers, are responsible for finding and hiring their own crew.
